The Norwegian Guide and Scout Association
The Norwegian Guide and Scout Association is an ideal organisation based on teaching
children, youth and adults the fundamentals of responsibility taking, accepting challenges,
new experiences and personal development. ”Learning by doing” and leader training are
important elements of the movement. Other important elements are outdoor activities,
friendship, practical knowledge and improved quality of life.
21.000 members are organised in over 650 local groups spread over 32 districts. The structure is divided into age-groups as follows: Beavers: pre-school children Cubs/Brownies: 7 – 10 years of age Scouts/Guides in troop: 10 – 16 years of age Rovers: 16 years or older Activities Scouting offers a wide spectre of activities, short trips and gatherings in the local community, and challenges such as rafting and climbing. Through activities in the outdoors our members gain knowledge about the nature and healthy views on environmental issues. Our training program takes into consideration the age and skill of each individual scout, thus giving each scout/guide the best opportunity to succeed. The objectives of The Norwegian Guide and Scout Associations The Guide and Scout Association shall help its members become independent and responsible human beings by: • Offering a training program that emphasizes outdoor life, social commitment, international understanding and experience of the scouting ideals. • Giving them responsibility and the feeling of being heard. • Helping them develop a Christian faith. Friendship across borders The Norwegian Guide and Scout Association is a member of the two largest child and youth organizations in the world, WAGGGS and WOSM. These organizations have more than 30 million members combined worldwide. The Norwegian Guide and Scout Association are involved in development projects in Africa and Eastern Europe. WAGGS: World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts WOSM: World Organization of the Scout Movement. Campsites Ingelsrud Scout Centre Ingelsrud Scout Centre is well suited as a campsite for all types of camps during the summer and for weekend camps throughout the year. Ingelsrud today is the basis for different theme camps, standard camping, wilderness camps, camps with water activities and hiking camps. Training Centre Ingelsrud is an excellent location for courses and seminars. The course facilities are excellent for both indoor and outdoor activities. Ingelsrud offers: • arranged activities • climbing wall • smithy (black-smith) • canoeing • nature walks • obstacle course • compass and map reading • raft building • pioneering • volleyball • A caretaker lives at the Centre throughout the year • A forest guard is available during the summer holidays to help with instruction etc. • Assistance to order food and have it brought to the camp can be arranged • Permanent facilities include toilets, swimming areas, garbage collection, a kiosk, a large stage with an amfitheatre capable of seating 20 000 spectators. The terrain is as beautiful in summer as in winter and the lodge is an ideal starting point for trips further into the mountains. The terrain is well suited for educational purposes, there are a lot of nice spots for tenting or bivuak, and there are great fishing possibilities. Facts about Solstølen The lodge was built in 1927, and can house up to 17 persons. It’s heated by electricity and kerosene, and therefore suitable for use the whole year. Questions? Havbraatt has no permanent port, but instead the ship circulates between troops. Havbraatt can be rented for day –and weekend trips, as well as for longer journeys. Normally Havbraatt comes “equipped” with a skipper that is familiar with the boat. Facts: Capacity: 12 Beds: 12 Season: May-September Questions? At Tredalen there’s three campsites; Squaw Field, Nordfolla and Piratsletta(the Pirate field,) capacity 60, 150, 200 persons in tents. Tredalen has been the property of NSF since 1950. It has been in NSF’s custody since 1939. The wild and beautiful nature that is Svervelis trademark gives room for many exciting scouting activities such as hiking and climbing. is Svervelis trademark.
